For women, Karva Chauth is
all about sargi, fasting till they spot the moon and praying for
husband's good health. Of course, the festival is also about
wearing the best of garments and accessories and sporting the perfect
make-up, looking like a stunning bride once again! We spoke to a couple
of make-up artists and style experts to compile a list of dos and don'ts
that will help you be your stunning self this Karva Chauth.
RED ALERT:
Red
is classic and is the colour of a married woman. So, stick to tradition
and pick out a sari, salwar suit or ghagra in any shade of red. If you
want to experiment, then choose some chic cuts and drapes. Rich colours
like gold and pink are also apt for this season.
MEHNDI ART:
What's the point of celebrating anything related to healthy marriage,
husband and tradition if women don't adorn their hands with mehndi?
It
just takes about an hour to get the rich colour of mehndi in your
palms. Don't go for elaborate designs; opt for simple, but intricate
patterns that give your palm some length. For extra colour, keep dabbing
the pattern on hand with lemon juice and tea extract.
BACK TO BASICS:
More than looking sexy and glamorous, it's important to look elegant
during the ritual. So, start with a base that complements your skin
tone. Use a concealer for your under-eye circles and blemishes. If you
have oily skin, don't hesitate to use some compact.
OPT FOR BRIGHT LIP COLOUR:
If
you are wearing shades of red, gold or green, opt for some glossy ,
bright red lipstick. You can try on pink lip colour if your attire is
pink, purple or blue.
UNDERPLAY YOUR EYE MAKE-UP:
The thumb
rule while doing up your face is -draw attention only to one of your
features. Since your lips are highlighted, keep your eye make-up simple.
Instead of smokey eyes, just line them with kajal and apply little bit
of mascara. You can also try out some gold eye shadow.
BLUSH EFFECT:
A
whole day of fasting and preparing for the festive evening is only
going to tire you out.So, you need to bring some colour on your cheek.
Pick a shade of blush that works best with your skin tone and brush some
on, in upward strokes, to give that glowing touch to your skin.
ACCESSORIES:
Bring out all those jazzy bangles, glittering maang tikkas and
impressive earrings now. Keep your neck bare, except for the
mangalsutra, and make a style statement with huge ornate earrings and
other accessories.
