The Indian Navy has conducted drills in the Arabian Sea, involving India's biggest warships, INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant, plus 35 aircraft and other warships. Together, they are called carrier battle groups.

A carrier battle group is a naval fleet that consists of an aircraft carrier, which is at the front, and a large number of ships around it. The carrier is capable of launching ships and choppers, and it's like a complete package, a floating air base of sorts.

So, what is the purpose of this exercise? Power projection. The Indian Navy is showcasing its ability to operate not just in the immediate waters surrounding India, but beyond as well. Here is what a spokesperson for the Navy said about the drills:

"The demonstration of naval prowess underscores India's commitment to safeguarding its national interests, maintaining regional stability, and fostering cooperative partnerships in the maritime domain."

The Indian Navy is upgrading its capabilities. It is gearing up to meet the China Challenge. You see, recent events at the border have led to a revelation: the PLA is a threat not just on land, but also at sea.

At the same time, India is at a vantage point on the high seas. There are key sea routes in the region that are essential to the Chinese economy. I'm talking about the likes of the Malacca Strait.

This is a narrow waterway and a major vulnerability for China. In 2016, almost 80% of China's oil imports came through here. Also, about 20% of the global maritime trade and 60% of China's trade influence go through this region. So, this route is vital for China and its economy, and India is in a position to block it.

Recent reports say that India is also planning a new naval base. It will be built on the Great Nicobar Island, and it will overlook the entrance to the Malacca Strait. This base will give clear tactical advantages to India.

So, provocation in the Himalayas may be answered from the Great Nicobar Island. India could consider blocking Chinese tankers, and from the same base, India would be in a position to watch Chinese movements in the Indian Ocean and also monitor China in the South China Sea. Remember, this is another major international flash point.

And such a base is increasingly critical for India because Chinese activities in the Indian Ocean are growing. Consider what India's Navy Chief said in the month of April:

"We're keeping a very close watch in the Indian Ocean region. An effort is to know whose presence is there and what they're up to, monitoring it 24/7, and we deploy aircraft, UAVs, ships, submarines, etc."

China, you know, has the world's biggest navy, and it's expanding. It is building more warships. The PLA has plans to deploy more assets to the Indian Ocean region. Today, China has two carriers, Liaoning and Shandong, and they're working on a third one, called Fujian. Then, there are Chinese bases in the region like Djibouti and Gwadar in the west, and Hambantota in the south.

So, the trajectory is quite clear: China is building capacity to control this region in every theater of conflict. So, India's best bet is to prepare, and these drills by the Indian Navy show that New Delhi is firming up its defenses.

It will be interesting to see how this situation develops in the future. China is a rising power, and India is a regional power. Both countries have interests in the Indian Ocean region, and it is likely that their rivalry will continue to grow.

A day before Apple opens its much-anticipated retail store Apple BKC in Mumbai on April 18, the tech giant on Monday allowed a sneak peek into the massive yet unique-looking store. It is also tipped to be the most sustainable of Apple stores globally.

Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to inaugurate the store on Tuesday.

Both glass and wood have been used extensively to decorate the store. The building also boasts of a massive glass facade with a wooden tile ceiling.

The opening of the Apple store in Mumbai marks a significant expansion of the company's operations in the country which is becoming increasingly important for its future growth.

Ahead of the store's launch, Tim Cook said Apple is excited to build on its over 25-year history in India. "India has such a beautiful culture and an incredible energy, and we’re excited to build on our long-standing history — supporting our customers, investing in local communities, and working together to build a better future with innovations that serve humanity," he said.

The dreamy palace wedding, which was held as per Christian rituals, was

attended by Pandya and Stankovic's family members and close friends.

The couple had earlier tied the nuptial knot during the pandemic phase,

‘which was more of a hush-hush affair on May 31, 2020. The two were blessed

‘with a boy Agastya in July 2020.

Pandya and Stankovic shared pictures from their surreal wedding on i

Instagram with the caption: "We celebrated Valentine's Day on this island of 3

love by renewing the vows we took three years ago. We are truly blessed to 1

have our family and friends with us to celebrate our love.”

The wedding was held in Five Star Hotel Raffles, situated in the middle of

Udai Sagar Lake in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The couple arrived in the city on

February 13 along with their son and family members.

It was a lacey affair for the beautiful bride who looked elegant in her white

‘wedding gown with a thigh-high slit. For his big day, Pandya kept it sleek

dressed in black suit paired with rimless sunglasses.

Keeping the theme of the wedding in mind, the bridesmaid also kept it subtle

but elegant with their light tone peace coloured dresses. As per reports, the

couple has been meaning to exchange vows in a ceremony surrounded by

family and friends as the two had gotten married in a court due to the Covid-

19 pandemic.

The social media is currently flooded with pictures and videos from the

couple's wedding. As per a video shared by an Instagram account of a

paparazzi, we see Stankovic and Pandya having a blast the two walk down the

aisle together, dancing and cheering with their friends and family following

the trail.

Ritesh Agarwal, the founder, and CEO of cheap hotel franchise OYO, tied the knot with his fiancee, Geetansha Sood, on March 7.

The newlyweds hosted a wedding reception at the Taj Palace in New Delhi. Several bigshots of the business and startup world were in attendance. The guest list included names such as Softbank Group founder Masayoshi Son and Vijay Shekhar Sharma the founder of the digital payments app Paytm. Other bigwigs such as Lenskart CEO Peyush also attended the wedding. Union minister Prahlad Singh Patel also attended the wedding and posed for selfies with the duo.

Several pictures from the event have gone viral on social media. In one picture both Agarwal and his wife can be seen touching the feet of Masayoshi, to seek his blessings.

The Paytm boss shared some pictures from the wedding. Taking to Twitter, he drooped some candid selfies of himself posing with Masayoshi and wrote, “Ultimate joy today, seeing Masa smiling, happy, and enjoying his India trip. Everyone of us had tons of gratitude for his belief and support given to our startups," he wrote.

Softbank has been one of the most prominent investors in the Indian startup ecosystem and is said to have spent almost $15 billion. Multiple unicorn startups such as OYO, Lenskart, Ola, etc were the benefactors of such investments, during their early stages.

Last month, Agarwal hit headlines when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his wife and fiance and invited him to his wedding.
