Copa del Rey

The Copa del Rey (English: King's Cup) is an annual football cup competition for Spanish football clubs. It was first played in 1902 and is organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The competition is open to all teams that are affiliated with the federation, including teams in the Spanish top flight, La Liga, as well as lower-division clubs. The format of the competition varies from year to year, but it typically involves multiple rounds of matches, with teams being eliminated until only two teams remain to contest the final. The winner of the Copa del Rey is awarded the trophy and earns the right to play in the following season's Supercopa de España and the UEFA Europa League. The most successful teams in the history of the competition are Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, each team has won the tournament over 30 times.
