Wording Your Wedding Invitations When The Bride’S Parents Are Footing The Bill

Some of the most common wedding invitation etiquette questions we receive revolve around how to word wedding invitations. And for good reason – the way you word you invite doesn’t just tell your wedding guests where to be and when.

ASK YOURSELF WHO’S HOSTING

Deciding how to word your wedding invitations always begins with one question: who’s hosting the wedding?

The host of your wedding is typically the person or people paying for the majority of the celebration. More and more commonly, the couple themselves are paying for their own wedding. But traditionally, the bride’s parents pay for the wedding and therefore, get the honor of doing the inviting.

Here we’ve listed a variety of invitation wording ideas written for weddings hosted by the bride’s parents. Remember though, if both parents are financially contributing to your wedding, you’ll want to include everyone.

Before you get started, we have one tip. When writing wedding invitation wording from the bride’s parents, pay attention to first and last names. Since the bride’s parents’ first names and last name are mentioned, only the bride’s first and middle name should appear on the invitation. However, the groom’s first, middle and last names should be included. These rules may vary with divorced or remarried parents.

WORDING EXAMPLES IF THE BRIDE’S PARENTS ARE PAYING

There are so many ways to word your wedding invitations if the bride’s parents are doing the inviting. Here are a few of our favorites:

Wedding invitation dress code

Once you learn how wedding invitation dress code works, it's time to decide what your dress code will be. This part is a little trickier, so we put together a guide to explain some standard wedding dress codes.

Take a look and decide what fits your wedding style best.

Casual Wedding Dress Code

How to say it on your invitation: Casual Dress

What it means: Casual dress means wedding guests can wear pretty much anything they want.

What to wear: We recommend a casual dress for the ladies and dress pants with button-down shirt or polo shirt for the guys. But, if the wedding is at a rustic location, or extra casual like a barbeque, even jeans and cowboy boots will do!

Cocktail or Semi-Formal Dress Code

How to say it on your invitation: Cocktail Attire or Semi-Formal Dress

What it means: Cocktail Attire or Semi-Formal Dress is a step up from a casual dress code. Think more tailored clothing. They both mean the same thing, so choose the term you like best.

What to wear: A nice dress for ladies and suit and tie with a sport coat for the gents.

Beach Formal Wedding Dress Code

How to say it on your invitation: Beach Formal Attire

What it means: Beach inherently indicates casual, which is why formal is tacked on to the end — it's still a classy affair.

What to wear: We recommend a formal summer sundress (tea-length or knee-length) with flats for the ladies and a summer suit with linen shirt, linen pants or khakis and sandals for the guys.

Formal Attire or Black Tie Optional Dress Code

How to say it on your invitation: Formal Attire or Black Tie Optional

What it means: These two phrases are very common in today’s weddings. They indicate that the wedding party will be in formal wedding attire, and it's optional for all guests.

What to wear: We recommend a dark suit or tux for the men and formal evening wear (floor length dresses or evening pant suits) for the women.

Black Tie Wedding Dress Code

How to say it on your invitation: Black Tie

What it means: Black Tie usually indicates an evening affair where the men where tuxedos and the women wear formal gowns of any length.

What to wear: For the guys, a black tux. Women should wear a formal gown of any length.

White Tie Dress Code

How to say it on your invitation: White Tie

What it means: This is the most formal of all wedding dress codes. We’re talking soirees at the White House kind of evenings.

What to wear: The gentlemen dress in long-tail tuxedos and the women don full-length ball gowns. If only we could be so lucky as to attend one of these fabulous affairs!

How to Say: No Gifts, Please

How do we say "No Gifts, Please"?

Not interested in wedding gifts? Maybe you’ve been living together for many years and don’t feel like you need anything or maybe you’re getting married for the second time and feel awkward about receiving more gifts.

If you want to politely decline wedding gifts, here are a few etiquette-friendly options for communicating that you’d like to pass on the tradition.

How to Say: No Gifts, Please

1. Request "No Gifts, Please" on Your Wedding Invitation

You can use your wedding invitation suite to communicate you don’t want gifts. Some etiquette experts advise against it, but we don’t see a problem with mentioning it in a polite manner.

You can be simple and direct by saying: No Gifts, Please

or you can add something a little cuter like: Your presence is your present. Please, no gifts!

We suggest addidg this message on an enclosure card, such as your reception card or and information card that includes extra details about accommodations and your wedding website. If your wedding invite is two-sided, the backside is also a perfect place to mention your request.

2. Add a Note on Your Wedding Website

Your wedding website is a fantastic spot to let your guests know to come to your wedding gift-free! Why? Guests will naturally go to your website to find your registry information. Instead of listing links to your registry, simple add a note like:

Please no gifts, we just want to celebrate with those we love most (that’s you!)

A Request from Henry and Max: Gift us only with the honor of your presence!

Your wishes for a happy life together are the only gifts that we wish to receive. Please, no gifts!

3. If Guests MUST Gift, Ask for a Donation to Charity

Sometimes, guests have a strong desire to gift something…anything…and won’t take no for an answer. In this case, we love the idea of asking guests to donate to charity.

Asking guests to donate to your favorite charity in lieu of wedding gifts, is easy. All you have to do is create some personalized information cards with the charity’s information and how to give. Then place these cards at every table at your reception. You can even add a personal story if the charity is something near and dear to your heart.

Guests will love this alternative to bringing a traditional wedding gift and you’ll be able to raise a good chunk of money for your favorite cause.

And remember – just because you’ve said no gifts doesn’t mean you won’t get any. Chances are you will receive plenty of wedding cards and a few gifts despite your request. Accept whatever gifts you receive graciously, and don’t forget to send a heartfelt thank you card after your wedding.

Saregama hits 5% upper circuit on board nod for distribution biz demerger

Saregama Carvaan Gold

Saregama Carvaan Gold

The demerger relates to sale of all its physical products including Carvaan on digital marketplaces along with identified non-core assets (i.e. investment in publication business).

Shares of Saregama India were locked at the 5 per cent upper circuit at Rs 4,828.45 on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade after the board approved demerger of entire distribution business of the company. The demerger relates to sale of all its physical products including Carvaan on digital marketplaces along with identified non-core assets (i.e. investment in publication business). The stock had hit a record high of Rs 5,487 on December 28, 2021.

Online marketplace has considerable potential, and skills acquired by the demerged company in the recent past can be utilized to manage end-to-end distribution activity, and with a potential to add many more products. This will also benefit the demerged company’s business, as the negotiation strength generated by the distributors by selling a suite of products will help accelerate carvaan sales too, Saregama India said in its rationale for demerger.

The demerged company intends to demerge its e-commerce distribution business into the resulting company which, inter alia, will result in the unlocking the value of each of the business for the shareholders of the demerged company, attracting investors and providing better flexibility in accessing capital, the company said.

Two fully paid up equity shares of the resulting company, credited as fully paid up, for every one equity share of the demerged company.

“Demerged division topline was Rs 17.4 crore in FY21 while bottomline (in our view) is miniscule, thus having no major implication on earnings. We highlight that demerger only involves digital distribution arm (including publication) and Carvaan business stays with Saregama residual entity. Demerger of non-core activity, especially publication, is a key positive likely to drive a focused approach of management on key business of music,” ICICI Securities said in a note.

Meanwhile, on February 24, 2022, Saregama India board had approved stock split from Rs 10 to Re 1 each. The sub-division of face value of equity shares to improve the liquidity of the company’s shares in the Stock market and to make it affordable to the small retail shareholders as also to broad base the small retail shareholders, the company had said.
